Rhythms of Black & White: a group art show

In a world saturated with vibrant colours, "Rhythms of Black & White" reminds us that sometimes the strongest emotions are expressed through simplicity.
Presented by Nayan Naveli Gallery and curated by Amrita Kochhar, the exhibition explores the profound relationship between light and darkness, presence and absence, silence and expression.
The exhibition brings together thirteen contemporary artists whose practices span abstraction, figurative expression, charcoal drawing, acrylic painting, and experimental mark-making. Rather than treating monochrome as a limitation, each artist transforms black and white into a powerful visual language capable of conveying memory, emotion, identity, and transformation.
The opening on 10 July 2026 attracted an enthusiastic audience, including renowned artists Maïté Delteil, Anjolie Ela Menon, and Jatin Das, whose presence reflected the significance of the exhibition within Delhi's contemporary art landscape. Collectors, artists, students, and art lovers engaged in thoughtful conversations throughout the evening, appreciating the diversity of interpretations presented within a single monochromatic framework.
An innovative addition to the exhibition was the two-minute live illustration experience. Participants first embraced one minute of mindful silence before allowing their imagination to flow freely onto paper during the second minute. The activity beautifully echoed the exhibition's central philosophy—that creativity often emerges from moments of stillness and introspection.
Through contrast, texture, gesture, and restraint, "Rhythms of Black & White" demonstrates that colour is not essential for artistic depth. Instead, the exhibition celebrates perspective, emotion, and the limitless possibilities that emerge when artists embrace the poetic relationship between black and white.
