If asked about credits, whom would you credit your success to in the field of writing and women empowerment?
I owe my success to a collective of voices—teachers, friends, and all those who believed in dreaming beyond societal limitations. My journey began at age ten, fuelled by encouragement and a vision to echo the voices of millions of women through literature that reflects social and political viewpoints.
In short, how do you look at your journey so far?
My journey has been full of wonderful experiences and learning moments that have shaped me as an individual. I believe one can be a successful writer in India without needing to leave the country, provided there is focus and determination. Early exposure to skill-building courses helps, but ultimately, it’s about pursuing dreams despite societal expectations.
What is your one mantra for excelling in any field?
True courage lies in hard work and adopting practices others may fear due to judgment or lack of cooperation. Writers should focus on creating value for readers with content that is simple yet powerful, ensuring effective communication where the reader comprehends the context clearly.
What is your mindset behind maintaining consistency in motivation?
Consistency comes from deep loyalty to principles and ideals rather than just prosperity-related successes. Self-belief means being loyal to one’s values and having the courage to persist even when facing adversity or judgment from others. Resilience and patience are key qualities that help accomplish goals even in difficult situations.
What according to you are the impediments do writers commonly encounter?
Writers face rejection, criticism, burnout, self-doubt, lack of motivation, and financial instability. Many struggle with organization and productivity early on but can succeed by establishing daily writing habits and remaining confident despite setbacks. Success requires both exceptional talent and perseverance through challenges unique to creative careers.
According to you, what is the one advice you would give to the youth of this country?
Determination is crucial—if you have an idea or dream (no matter how simple), start executing it without worrying about which path will bring recognition fastest. Sincerity, consistency, calmness, and intuition are essential for creativity; hard work never betrays anyone who is committed to their craft from the beginning.
How do you envision an independent woman meant to make strong decisions?
Being independent means making important decisions confidently after careful consideration balancing what your heart wants with what your mind thinks is best and maintaining autonomy over happiness while still being cordial with others around you. Self-reliance empowers girls to make choices safely and become leaders.
What do you think according to you on how women overcome emotional dependency?
Overcoming emotional dependency involves self-awareness, self-compassion, trusting instincts when making decisions, developing new hobbies for mental well-being, practicing self-love, setting boundaries, and understanding that meeting one’s own emotional needs is fundamental.
How would you defines a headstrong woman in four lines ?
A strong woman takes care of her own needs—body, health, inner strength—and faces challenges head-on with resilience and determination while valuing herself fully.
For women transformation in life begins with what ?
Transformation starts with kindness toward oneself; practicing what you preach builds integrity and reliability while fostering spaces free from judgment encourages growth for all women involved.
What inspired your book “Swayam,” and what message do you hope readers take away?
“Swayam” was inspired by a desire to explore self-discovery amid adversity; its core message is embracing authenticity through courage during challenges—empowering readers to reclaim their narratives independently of external validation.
What is your definition of an exponential growth mindset? How can individuals cultivate it?
An exponential growth mindset involves continuous learning, embracing challenges as opportunities for development rather than barriers, regular reflection on strengths/weaknesses (self-awareness), reframing limiting beliefs into empowering thoughts, setting ambitious goals broken into manageable steps—and celebrating progress along the way.
What led you to dedicate yourself to suicide prevention and mental health advocacy?
The pervasive stigma around mental health motivated me; I witnessed firsthand the consequences of untreated conditions—which drove my commitment to breaking down barriers through open conversations about mental well-being while ensuring accessible support systems.
What are today’s most pressing challenges for women as a Gender-Based Violence Specialist? How can society better support survivors?
Gender-based violence remains pervasive globally—exacerbated by economic inequality, lack of resources (education/healthcare), digital divides (online harassment), political underrepresentation—and requires survivor-centered approaches: stronger legal frameworks; comprehensive support services(shelters/counseling/legal aid);
education campaigns challenging harmful norms; integrating GBV response into humanitarian strategies; fostering female leadership at all levels.
What leads you to balance legal reasoning with emotional sensitivity in family disputes?
Balancing legal reasoning with empathy involves understanding both legal principles (divorce/custody/support/property division) and recognizing clients’ emotional realities using client-centered strategies like mediation first while safeguarding privacy/
confidentiality throughout proceedings.
How has the feminist movement evolved in India? There have been a few ‘waves’ of feminism. How has the relationship between feminism and patriarchy changed over time?
Feminism in India has evolved significantly over time, with distinct phases marking its journey. The movement can be broadly categorized into three waves :
First Wave (1850-1915): Social reformers advocated for women’s rights, focusing on education, abolition of sati, and widow remarriage.
Second Wave (1915-1947) : Women participated in the freedom struggle and fought for their rights.
Third Wave (1947-present): Feminism expanded to include issues like caste, class, and religion.
Today, feminism in India addresses various issues, including workplace harassment, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. The movement has led to significant changes, such as increased awareness about women’s rights, improved access to education, and greater representation of women in politics and public life. However, challenges persist, including patriarchal mindsets, gender-based violence, and unequal opportunities. To overcome these, it’s essential to continue advocating for gender equality and empowering women.Feminism has to be and has been like water: fluid. It takes the shape of the pot into which it Is poured. Water is H20 everywhere. Feminism is anti-patriarchy not anti-men movement.
What are your feelings on Winning the Prestigious National Award “Satyamev Jayate Award 2026” ?
Valuing National Awards like the Satyamev Jayate Award as important instruments for recognising individuals who champion truth, integrity, and societal progress is a matter of great pride . Emphasis is on consistently emphasizing that such recognitions should not only celebrate personal achievements but also inspire collective action towards equality, justice, and empowerment especially for marginalized communities. In broader commentary on national awards there is a self belief that is articulated that awards serve as platforms to amplify voices advocating for liberty, equality, fraternity, and nonviolent social change.I do believe these accolades are meaningful when they encourage recipients and society at large to continue striving for inclusive growth and ethical leadership.I would view the Satyamev Jayate Award as a prestigious recognition that aligns with her ideals of truth (“Satyamev Jayate” meaning “Truth Alone Triumphs”), transparency in public life, and dedication to uplifting society through honest action. My consistent message across interviews and writings is that such honours should motivate both awardees and observers to pursue higher standards of character and civic responsibility.
