Nothing feels better than ending a meal with a dessert. But often the extra calories in it stops us from having it. If you can relate, here is some help. Here is the list of the 10 healthiest desserts that you can have without any guilt.

    Fresh fruits

Fruits are packed with minerals and vitamins that help your body function. Pick whatever is in season, be it pears, watermelon or guava. Seasonal fruits taste better as they have not been processed or preserved. If you cannot find fresh fruits, you can also opt for frozen fruits.

    Dark chocolates

15 grams of 86 per cent dark chocolate contains only two grams of sugar. But the taste is sweet enough to satisfy your cravings. It’s loaded with plant chemicals called flavonoids that can help protect your heart.

    Apple chips

Natural compounds in apples can help protect one from heart disease, diabetes and even some types of cancer. To try something different, make your own crispy apple chips.

Take thinly sliced apples and spread them on a lightly greased baking sheet. Sprinkle some apple pie spice and bake for 1 hour at 225 degrees. Flip and bake for one hour more.

    Cereal

Cereal makes for a great snack during any time of the day. You can have it with low-fat dairy milk or unsweetened plant-based milk. Just make sure to choose the cereal that is 100 per cent whole grain, with no more than 6 grams of sugar per serving.

    Greek yogurt

Instead of choosing flavoured yogurt, choose plain low-fat Greek yogurt and stir some cinnamon in it. This will provide you with calcium and keep you fuller for longer.

    Dates

Dates have plenty of natural sugar, which is why they are often used as a sweetener in recipes. Not just this, dates are also packed with fibre, vitamin B6, potassium and magnesium.

    Oatmeal

Pre-flavoured oatmeal can be high in sugar thus it’s best to make your own. You can add 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice.

    Frozen grapes

Frozen grapes make for the best dessert as they become even sweeter after spending time in the freezer. Simply wash and dry a bunch of grapes, put them onto a rimmed baking sheet. Put them in the freezer until they have an icy crunch.

    Sweet potato

This naturally sweet veggie is packed with the goodness of vitamin A, B6 and C along with plant chemicals that help protect your health. You can bake or microwave a sweet potato and top it with vanilla yogurt and a drizzle of maple syrup. You can also make sweet potato chips by thinly slicing them and keeping baking them for 15 minutes at 350 degrees until crisp. You can sprinkle it with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.

    Apple and nut butter

Craving for more than just an apple. Slice one apple and spread a tablespoon of nut butter on the top and sprinkle it with cinnamon. The cinnamon will add extra antioxidants and sweetness to the apple without adding any sugar.
