NEW DELHI: Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, having flown down from Bengaluru on a special chartered flight.
The meeting comes amid a buzz of Cabinet expansion in the southern state and also reports of dissent against Yediyurappa’s leadership..
The chief minister is on record denying any plan to discuss Cabinet composition with the Prime Minister. His Delhi visit was to meet the PM and other ministers, and to discuss pending development and irrigation projects in the state, he had said on Thursday.
“I don’t know anything about leadership change. During my discussion with PM Modi, I requested him to permit to carry out development works in the state,” Yediyurappa told newsmen after his meeting with the PM.
The leadership issue in Karnataka has surfaced time and again in the recent past, although the BJP has played down the matter. Yediyurappa himself has said it is up to the central leadership to take a call.
