Abdullah Selvanathan, game developer turned into an Entrepreneur, along with Mohamed Saliya founded UCS as a service business in 2017. Initially focused on supporting young developers who lacked industry experience to get a job, the journey continued until 2018 when the company realized there was much potential in advancing the ed-Tech industry forward. As a result, the company transitioned into the education industry to make their lives easier.
During the pandemic, the education sector was among the hardest sectors around the globe to deal with. The industry slowed down due to the lack of a communication tool for organizations to connect with the students & parents and this is where the Campus Cloud from UCS comes into the picture, Campus Cloud from UCS was the tool that most educational institutions needed.
Existing positioning of the company
Powered by its own low bandwidth Video conferencing tool, and automation according to the needs of educational organizations UCS now provides Campus Cloud as comprehensive, an all-in-one advanced campus care solutions for schools and universities located in the rural areas with low network coverage. Currently, in the Asia Asian and African markets, there are more than 40K students who are benefiting by using Campus Cloud in their daily activities.
Initial Journey
It was challenging to beat the competition and on top of that, the onboarding & training of the various stakeholders was extremely difficult since the users are not very tech-savvy. In order to make the system easier for non-tech users, the team made major changes to the system. As they moved forward with the implementation of their solution to rural institutions in India as well as African institutions that are in much need of a Campus Care tool, optimizing the data consumption brought another major challenge to the team. The feedback they received from the teachers and staff, who used Campus Cloud, kept them going as they witnessed the number of hours saved, lesser paper records, and the cost reduction to the organizations.
Future Prospects
With the students getting back to school after the pandemic, the industry is moving towards a hybrid educational approach, combining e-learning with classroom education. With the recent integrations of Zoom into Campus Cloud, students and teachers will be able to attend their classes from their laptops and mobile devices. In addition, since the need for knowledge enhancement continues to grow in the ever-changing world we live in, UCS students soon have access to edX, one of the world’s most popular online learning platforms. The educational boards are also focusing on outcome based education & tailored learning suggestions, and UCS is concentrating on AI-based education suggestions for kids. In India and around the globe, UCS is preparing to disrupt the education industry and support the upcoming advancements.
