Driving Green Mobility: Abhinav Chauhan (AICTSL) Honoured at Dainik Bhaskar Engineering Excellence Awards
Indore: Abhinav Chauhan, Civil Engineer and Structural & Transport Project Engineer at AICTSL Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC), has been recognised at the Dainik Bhaskar Engineering Excellence Awards 2024–25 for his contribution to advancing Indore’s sustainable public transport initiatives. Chauhan, who oversees EV infrastructure, e-bus operations and the city’s Bus Rapid Transit System (iBus), has emerged as one of the key young engineers shaping Indore’s mobility transformation.
Pioneering Cleaner Transit for Indore
In his role as officer in-charge of EV infrastructure and BRTS operations under IMC and AICTSL, Chauhan has been closely involved in the city’s transition from diesel buses to electric mobility. His responsibilities cover fleet planning, depot and charging station development, civil works along the BRTS corridor, and commuter-focused station upgrades.
Indore is currently one of India’s most ambitious municipal EV adopters. The city has operationalised more than 27 public charging stations and is in the process of expanding its e-bus fleet under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. Plans are also underway to make the 11.45 km BRTS corridor fully electric—an initiative that positions Indore as a frontrunner in green transit. Chauhan’s engineering leadership has been central to these developments, ensuring smooth integration between infrastructure, systems, and daily operations.
Recognition with Civic Impact
The Dainik Bhaskar Engineering Excellence Awards celebrate professionals whose work delivers measurable impact on urban life and infrastructure. Abhinav Chauhan was recognised in this year’s edition for his role in EV roll-out and BRTS management—both critical in reducing emissions, improving commuter experience, and modernising city transport.
Industry observers note that Indore’s mobility efforts are being closely watched nationally, with the city emerging as a case study for how municipal bodies can accelerate electrification. Chauhan’s award highlights the importance of strong engineering stewardship in translating policy vision into functional, on-ground solutions.
A Technocrat for the Future
Speaking after receiving the award, Chauhan said:
“This recognition is not just for me, but for Indore’s collective effort in building sustainable transport. Our mission is to create systems that serve citizens reliably while contributing to a cleaner environment. Engineering excellence, to me, means turning that mission into reality.”
The Road Ahead
With additional e-buses, depot infrastructure, and charging networks set to be deployed, Indore’s journey toward all-electric public transport is expected to accelerate in the coming years. Experts say that the city’s model could serve as a reference point for other urban centres in India.
For Abhinav Chauhan, the award is both a recognition of past work and a call to continue leading Indore’s ambitious mobility programme. His role exemplifies how young engineers are increasingly becoming the backbone of India’s urban transformation.
Award ceremony coverage was documented in the regional press and social media updates from organisers.
