Solutions to many of our most painful personal problems can be found by hacking our human elements. Something that helps us flourish and thrive rather than sulk and shrink.
Yes! It might sound outlandish, but she is a hacker. A resilience hacker. She helps people hack their resilience and bounce back with their newer and stronger versions. Manjoo Shree, a clinical psychologist and a life transformation coach who guides people to extract resilience thereby helping them live uncommon lives.
She’s developed this key strength within her after something life-changing. She says there’s a reason behind every act of the universe. While she took the signals from the universe, and hacked resilience from fellow humans live a gratifying life
Since the start, Manjoo Shree had this gene of understanding human behaviour. Like little Alice she wondered and analysed the psychology of the human brain. Her curiosities led her to choose psychology as a career as a psychologist in the year 2000 with honours at Bharathiar University and masters in philosophy. Later she associated with a women-centric clinic to support them through rough patches. She also worked on depressive and emotionally abused teenagers and women.
Humans are incapable to assume their iron grit until they are tried. Manjoo shree was tried hard by her Karma. She then learned that courage is not the absence of dread but emerging triumphantly from it.
Life then was a steam engine stunting on the same track. And as the folklore has it, “Life shows up when you are busy doing other unimportant things”. Manjoo’s life showed up most horrifically. It was the year 2013 when her family faced this ghastly assault. The assault was so horrendous that it annihilated her fondness for living.
The family was crushed, literally and metaphorically. There was a support system for everyone in the house but each of them were lost in their painful ways. She remembers, “While using the washrooms, I kept the doors open for someone from the family to watch over me”, she inhales sharply while talking to us. She couldn’t sleep at a stretch. It was a fretful slumber of epic proportion.
Now outgrown the painful past she says that it felt like she was in a dark pressing tunnel that was crushing on her chest. The unknown rage pounded her heart. Her body was pierced by the fire pins of powerlessness and experienced terror.
The assault changed her shared life. It changed her inter-familial relationships. It changed them all as humans. She felt Like a zombie trying to hide her existence in the human milieu. The poisonous regret of an unlikely event ran through her veins until one outcast day, She decided.
Decided to give up on the mundane world. Her miseries were magnified to the extent that life came to her as the most trivial trinket one can have. She threw it like one.
And finally, She attempted to end her life! Yes, I know attempt is a positive word and you only attempt to succeed and excel.
Some powerful notions come in most ordinary ways. One like “life is unpredictable”. It came to her very powerfully indeed. She survived the deadly attempt and came back to the cramped confines of her body.
This attempt made her stubborn and unwilling. Her family and friends were concerned about her unwillingness and tried all ways to bring her back to life. But as I said, she was transitioned into a zombie, and gradually she felt comfortable in the dark space.
She says “ I was annoyed by the broad daylight. It was my friend who insisted I must see a life coach who’d help me win over my desire to continue with life. With closed intentions, I connected with my life coach over a phone, but his positivity was contagious and slowly It infected me too. He encouraged me to talk to the survivors like me and share the rage and forgiveness, simultaneously. “
So, in the same year 2013 – she started a movement “Lifeolicious “ her brainchild. She started with a small group workshop called, ‘Happy Woman’, without much clear intention on the agenda. But the basic storyline was to bring the paradigm shift in the lives of women to live productive and happy lives.
She just wanted to share the survival stories, and to let them comprehend that we were connected through some unseen thread of sorority. The simple workshop ended up making all of them happy. The women felt heard and resonated, releasing all the blame.
It was then followed by numerous workshops for teenagers, women, teachers, Moms-to-be and couples.
Nonetheless, it opened up to the possibilities of optimising life again.
Lifeolicious was initiated as a resilience campaign for women from different walks of life which was honoured with global recognition and international recognition. Women shared their life stories and Manjoo Shree guided them to skim their resilience. Which in turn bulletproofed them to turn their pain to power. Gradually She realised that She had this special gene in her, that could hack resilience and bring it forth.
All While It became a powerful tool for her to turn her life around.
As her husband recovered completely from the trauma, She understood that healthy love isn’t just composed of emotion-fulled pledges, lust and obsession. Love in its purest form lives in the monotonous and mundane folds of life. Like that of her family and friends Which in turn strengthened her resilience. She wrote her first book – an Amazon bestseller – Self-help for children for the first time in India – “Life parachute “and signed her first independent cover as an artist – “ Yettadha dhooram “.
Her life story became her narrative, and it gave her a reason to live.
Her research study on women mental wellness found that almost 9 women attempt suicide every day. She failed to calculate the harrowing number of suicides taking place in Tamil Nadu, and India and the world at large for the same areas. The data was disturbing. And She knew her limitations as an individual. But with Lifeolicious as a tribe, She calculated the strategy to uplift the woman from turmoil and chaos.
It was a mystical pull that attracted women as a community. You all might agree that a sense of resonance is strong. Lifeolicious became a safe space, where women took responsibility and release self-blame. It was heavy, but not as heavy as their victim consciousness. Slowly there were shifts of blame to resilience.
The sense of satisfaction is easing her residual pain, but now She is the observer of her life. Because the other survival sagas at Lifeolicious came to her like a soothing balm.
Now she strongly believes that “To love your life and yourself, you have to know your life and yourself”. However, cliched the statement, it holds the generational truth.
Do some people argue how something horrifying can be the predecessor of something good? But She has a logic to this.
What would life be with only the happy shades?
Wouldn’t the absence of pain and agony dull the essence of happiness, make the dish of life very bland?
Her story of hacking resilience may be fascinating to you only because of the conflicting misery.
Or else it would be plain and colourless, like some inert gases.
Suffering in life is a constant to all of us, but choosing the right strategy to strike away that suffering is important. Lifeolicious strikes you away from the misery and helps you hack your resilience, back!
