Mental health has always been an underrated subject in India. We, as a nation have never ever given due importance to this issue. This is the primary reason why India is slowly becoming the epic-center of mental health diseases. Even those who are severely struggling have no awareness about it.
We often neglect the unsung heroes and their impacts to society but there is a man who has taken a giant step forward and is fighting to ignite the change this country desperately needs. He is the one who is determined to make an impact on millions of lives with sheer love and generosity. Far from the madding crowd and unwarranted hype, he is the new flagbearer of change and a person to look up to.
Today we have Mr. Siddhartha Yadav with us, who is the honorary founder and director of The Crescent Moon project. The Crescent Moon is India’s first holistic platform on mental health and biggest initiative in the segment. In a very short span of time the initiative has gained serious popularity and too many academic institutions and corporations have been waiting to be a part of this project.
Mr. Yadav has agreed to give his precious time to our correspondent Ms. Pawana Tripathi and talk about the importance of mental health and has also opened up about his journey and the challenges he faced.
Pawana : Siddhartha, we are absolutely delighted to have you on board today. During this conversation we will talk about your prestigious The Crescent Moon initiative. Your concept, idea and what inspired you to create such a platform.
Siddhartha : The pleasure is mutual, mam. I don’t deserve too many high-frequency words and melodramatic b-town style jargon. Siddhartha and his team are here not to get the limelight but to bring the change. Let’s keep it straight, mam.
Pawana : Starting with your early days, this name needs no introduction in the writing industry. I have visited your personal website and have also read your various articles and interviews. So much in such limited time? How did it all start? Allow our readers to know more about you and your initial struggles?
Siddhartha : Mam, I neither have credentials to flaunt nor the series of struggles to narrate. I was an extremely average guy with the flair for writing and interest in storytelling. I don’t have any fancy content to share over it.
Pawana : Too straightforward a response, Siddhartha. We were just thinking about introducing you to readers and creating the background.
Siddhartha : (Smiles), Because we agreed to talk about mental health just. Too much discussion on irrelevant topics dilutes the gravity. Please don’t take this statement otherwise but writing and all are separate topics and the conversation will be carried away. It’s just a beginning to me and I personally feel that I am yet to earn those hi-fi compliments.
Pawana : Ok, Siddhartha. Tell us something about your dream project? The Crescent Moon initiative?
Siddhartha: We at The Crescent Moon are the group of psychologists, psychiatrists, consultants, motivational speakers, workshop facilitators, coaches, etc. who all are working towards a shared goal of eradicating the mental health crisis in our country by providing an educational, easily accessible, and impactful platform for anyone who wants to work on their mental health and well-being.
We are a team that is working hard towards making mental health accessible at your fingertips and an easy click can book you a session with the expert most suitable to your individual needs at our platform.
Pawana : Why is mental health so important in current scenarios? Is so much emphasis on mental health necessary from an Indian perspective?
Siddhartha : (Smiles sarcastically) This should have been the first question. Mental health aspect of our well-being is as important as the physical aspect of our well-being. Mental health refers to the psychological, emotional, and cognitive well-being. Mental health includes how we feel, how we think, how we behave, etc.
It is important for people of all ages, people from every field, people from every country. Taking good care of your mental health can have a positive effect on your daily functioning, relationships, work, self-esteem, coping skills, and all the other aspects of your life.
Pawana : The Crescent Moon is a nice name, the tagline ‘because storms don’t last forever’ is also impressive. Tell us something about it? From where this name came to your mind?
Siddhartha : Thank you for appreciating the name and tagline too. I had two reasons to use this name. First is, as per Indian astrology, the moon is the main planet (sub-planet) for emotions and love. Second is, ascent and crescent are the two main phases of the moon, very similar to ups and downs of our emotions. Crescent Moon signifies that it’s always the darkest before the new ray of light and the same was the motive behind the punchline.
With this name and tagline, we just want to tell the world that if you are struggling with something, this too shall pass. Stay strong and don’t lose hope.
Pawana : Tell us something about your team of experts and how the platform functions?
Siddhartha : We have 35 finest experts from the industry specialised in the domains of counselling, consulting and therapy. We are here for depression, anxiety, relationship issues, suicidal thoughts, panic attacks and series of other mental health disorders. We also have people with vast experience is the field of Pranic and Chakra healing, cord cutting, various types of regressions, graphology and dreams analysis. It’s perhaps the first platform where we have experts from both western and Indian Vedic psychology. We have separate teams to conduct workshops and create awareness at both academic institutions and corporations. It all makes this platform, India’s first holistic platform on mental wellness.
Pawana : You must be having certain expansion plans in place? How would you like to reach Indians at various corners?
Siddhartha : We are in the process of taking our team to hundred experts in no time. We are going to hire HR and admin experts, a dedicated customer support team which will work 24*7 and a PR Team too in the shorter run. By next year’s end, we are planning to have our offices in three cities named Lucknow, Delhi and Kolkata. We also have plans to add more therapy centres in our list for offline counselling. In short, you are going to see The crescent Moon going big in no time.
Pawana : You seem to be absolutely spot on with your plans. What are your targets for next year?
Siddhartha : I am not here to make money. It’s a Social Welfare Initiative. My purpose is to bring 5 lakh smiles next year. Three years down the line I just want to ensure that everyone is having basic awareness about mental health in India. We are here to make a difference and we will surely do it.
Pawana : You seem to be very passionate about this project? What motivates you to do it? We hardly see people talking so immensely. Any specific reasons?
Siddhartha : (Smiles) The Crescent Moon is the redemption of Siddhartha too. I was brutally broken so the restoration should also be a masterpiece. Light gets inside you through cracks only. I just want to give everything I have to this project. Talking about motivation, there is no bigger motivation than doing it for India and making millions smile. The nation is in crisis and we are here to pull things back.
Pawana : There is surely a story behind, would you like to open up and share it with our readers?
Siddhartha : No. We are here for a cause and let’s stick to that please.
Pawana : How to reach out to your team and get the sessions booked?
Siddhartha : It’s an absolutely automated platform, visit www.thecrescentmoon.in and everything is available there. You can reach out to the office of Siddhartha through an email to them at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org and our team will assist.
Pawana : Any last message for our readers?
Siddhartha : Just make sure that no one sleeps with tears in their eyes because of you. Never ever do anyone dirty. Best revenge is to heal and grow. Don’t ever try to pull someone down. Support people in need. Karma is real and what all you offer comes back to you. Spirits do protect generous souls and kindness is contagious.
